Jets fans say they’ll pray for an NFL season without DeMarco Murray
The Jets are in the midst of a desperate hunt for a quarterback.
The team, though, is not the only one looking for answers.
The Jets have made it clear that it will be a long wait before they get their man.
And while the quarterback search is ongoing, a few fans say the team is praying for the NFL to come back soon.
“The last time I checked, it was a dead man walking,” said Jason DeShong, a Jacksonville Jaguars fan who is the president of the Jacksonville Jaguars chapter of the American Legion.
“And this is the only way to get the guys who can help us get to the playoffs.
I just don’t think the NFL is going to get back anytime soon.”
DeShodos comments come on the heels of a recent episode of “The View” in which NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was asked if the league was considering cutting ties with DeMarco, which led to the host of the show making an impassioned plea for patience and support from the fans.
Goodell, who has been the commissioner of the NFL since 2001, responded that he was not considering any moves.
“I’m not saying there’s anything that I haven’t talked about, because I have,” Goodell said, “but I’m not going to take anything off the table.”
DeBlong said the team had been praying for an answer from Goodell about the possibility of cutting ties, and that the team was hoping the commissioner would finally be open to discussing a deal that would allow the Jets to get rid of Murray.
“We just want the best for the team,” DeBlondos brother, Eric, said.
“There’s no doubt in my mind, there’s no other reason for him to be talking to us.
If it means anything, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure we’re getting the best out of him.”
DeDeo Murray is expected to return to the Jets this season after missing a game with an injury.
He was also injured in the preseason and did not practice with the team this year.
DeBlondeos brother said the plan is to have him return to action as soon as possible.
“DeMarco will be back in the lineup, and we’re all waiting on him to get his opportunity,” Eric DeBlosa said.
The DeBlodos family is looking to get DeMarco back before the playoffs and are hoping the team does the same for the rest of the season.
“They’re a family,” Eric said.
